The Automation Technician I role involves programming, monitoring, and debugging various automation systems including PLC logic, robots (3/6 axis and collaborative), vision systems, and motion controls. This position provides technical guidance, training, and problem-solving support across all operational areas. The technician will collaborate with manufacturing engineers on continuous improvement projects, cost savings, and identifying manufacturing solutions. Responsibilities include updating electrical schematics and CAD files, contributing to automation concepts and equipment design, and staying current with automation technologies. The role also involves quoting automation for new and existing programs and working with external automation houses for complex projects. Additionally, the technician will analyze assembly schematics, fabricate and assemble automation systems, install fixtures and electrical components according to codes and regulations, and operate metalworking machines. Troubleshooting during the debug phase, developing work instructions, maintaining a clean work area, and performing process/equipment trials are also key duties. The role requires hands-on support for manufacturing engineering projects and assistance with setup and maintenance of diverse assembly equipment.
