About The Position

Apprenticely is helping Virco hire a Automation Technician Apprentice in Conway, AR. Virco is America's leading manufacturer and supplier of furniture and equipment for K-12 schools, employing approximately 700 people nationwide. They have a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Torrance, California, and a large operational space in Conway, Arkansas. Large distribution centers in Torrance and Conway facilitate efficient product shipment. This apprenticeship is a full-time position focused on learning, with guaranteed formal training, a mentor, and a pay raise during the first year. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid power technologies and repair.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Entry mechanical aptitude and communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office for E-mail, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to efficiently use Windows based computers and perform basic networking tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience utilizing CMMS software such as SAP, EQUIPAC, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical wiring diagrams and industrial control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and replacement of automation systems at key points in the production process.
  • Under the direction of the Senior Automation Technician, troubleshoot nonfunctioning components, including servos, sensors, and control components.
  • Assist in the development of new automation technologies for manufacturing processes or to improve existing technologies.
  • Assist in the installation, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repair of industrial control systems, such as PLCs or other computerized process control systems including those that monitor and regulate operations or machinery.
  • Assist in the installation and repair of electrical components such as motors, switches, relays or sensors.
  • Help to maintain smooth operation of automated systems, assist manufacturing technical support technicians when needed to help guide troubleshooting of down equipment.
  • Assist with preventative, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on manufacturing production equipment.
  • Assist in the modification of automated PLCs, programs, and equipment to improve performance and meet new project needs.
  • Successfully complete each phase of the apprenticeship program.
  • Demonstrate competency in required skills before advancing to the next level.
  • Meet attendance, performance, and training requirements established by the program.
  • Accept increasing responsibility and complexity of assignments as skills develop.
