About The Position

Automation Technician III (3) will work as a team member to support automation installation, setup, repair, and maintenance in a fast paced injection molding environment. Automation Technician III is an experienced automation technical position that will be expected to have a complete understanding of operation, repair and maintenance of robotics, secondary automated operations and any support equipment assigned. Can guide and train junior Automation Technicians in the daily tasks.

Requirements

  • Vocational school certificate or equivalent experience
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems in automated equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot advanced AC and DC electrical systems
  • Complete understanding of operation, repair and maintenance of robotics, secondary automated operations and any support equipment assigned.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and electronics for guiding in the diagnosis of machine trouble.
  • In-depth understanding of multi-meter, electrical testing devices and thermal testing equipment.
  • Ability to explain to junior technicians, inputs, outputs, and PLC logic.
  • Ability to set vibratory action of parts and proper setup and adjustment of vibratory bowls.

Responsibilities

  • Assure automation runs to expected requirements set by engineering and operations management.
  • Guide and train junior technicians in installation and setups of the automation equipment.
  • Install and setup automation equipment with minimal guidance from senior automation personnel.
  • Setup and change over automation in cells or standalone.
  • Teach the setup of robotics, automation cells and standalone automation equipment to junior personnel.
  • Follow and give instructions both verbal and written for equipment changeover for several product lines.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems in automated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot advanced AC and DC electrical systems.
  • Upload, backup, and troubleshoot PLC programs.
  • Train personnel in vision system basics and make basic program changes.
  • Train personnel in fabrication using equipment such as hand held, vertical and band saws, milling machines, lathes and assorted grinders.
  • Guide junior personnel in the utilization of shears and breaks used in the forming of metal and fastening techniques including screws, threaded inserts.
  • Explain mechanical repair to junior personnel and suggest to senior automation personnel concepts for repair, modification or revisions to automation or robotics.
  • Set vibratory action of parts and proper setup and adjustment of vibratory bowls and train others in the same.
  • Maintain a safe, neat and orderly cGMP work environment.
  • Oversee general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and trash removal.
  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties or requirements at managers discretion.
