Requirements

  • Certified Engineering Technologist or Automation Engineer (P.Eng. or Engineer-in-Training), licensed and eligible to work in Saskatchewan and other regions covered by Rockford’s Certificate of Authority.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in industrial automation, including design, implementation, and support of automation systems.
  • Experience delivering automation projects in heavy industrial and/or diversified industrial environments.
  • Hands-on experience leading and/or contributing to industrial automation projects with defined scope, schedules, and performance targets.
  • Strong working knowledge of automation design/build, system integration, and final product delivery.
  • Ability to apply automation solutions to existing mechanical or industrial systems.
  • Experience maintaining technical documentation and revision control.
  • Ability to make sound, efficient decisions within assigned scope of responsibility.
  • Willingness to work regularly at client sites, including heavy industrial settings, for extended periods, in addition to work at Rockford’s facilities.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial environments and comply with Rockford and client safety requirements.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Ability to successfully complete and pass a criminal record check.

Responsibilities

  • Review applications and support project scoping, including preliminary and final automation designs.
  • Work as part of cross-functional project teams led by Engineers or Senior Technologists.
  • Provide onsite or in-house diagnostics, troubleshooting, commissioning, acceptance testing, and system integration support.
  • Configure and support automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, motor controls, and related hardware and software.
  • Deliver automation scope in line with project requirements, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Support product acceptance and provide post-deployment technical support as needed.
  • Contribute technical input to automation proposals, estimates, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to transition projects from design to fabrication and commissioning.
  • Maintain technical skills through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Build strong customer relationships through clear communication and responsive support.
