About The Position

Under the supervision of the Installation Manager, this role mentors and assists with the training of apprentices. It involves supervising and mentoring journeypersons and field supervisors to achieve project performance goals. The position requires regular job site visits to ensure quality control and standards are in place. The Automation Specialist will also perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent; post high school education desirable but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical construction or building automation trade at Foreperson level.
  • Ability to read, understand and effectively apply construction drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people in a professional, constructive manner.
  • Ability to organize and administer multiple job functions with good attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Above average level of computer literacy including word processing, working with spreadsheets, processing emails and data entry on company provided software.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical and building automation trades and applicable building and electrical codes.
  • Maintains consistent foreperson and superintendent job description requirements.
  • Knowledge of and ability to deal with other construction trades.
  • Must be confident, decisive, self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M and customer safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform job site audits.
  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures to reflect positively on the Company.
  • Regularly visit job sites to help with apprentice growth and quality control.
  • Participate in interviews and selection of apprentices.
  • Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the apprentice program in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Coach, mentor and develop apprentices and provide career development planning and opportunities.
  • Effectively manages and oversees project administrative tasks.
  • Supervises assigned personnel to maximize career development for employees including timely and accurate performance evaluations.
  • Effectively manages Building Automation Systems apprentices.
  • Effectively maintains training of all installation team members.
