About The Position

The Office of Information Technology and Assessment (ITA) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is seeking an Automation Solutions Engineer/Power Platform Developer. This role supports the mission of the UWM Office of Research and the Graduate School. The Graduate School manages various functions related to graduate education, including admissions, graduation, academic misconduct, policy development, fellowship awards, recruitment, and data collection. The Office of Research is responsible for central research administration, policy oversight, compliance, and internal research development programs. This position will develop PowerApps and Power Automate solutions, connect data from various sources, design, implement, test, troubleshoot, and maintain complex business logic and workflows. The role also involves communicating with non-technical users, creating technical documentation, managing multiple priorities, and serving as a technical lead and subject matter expert.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computing field or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Microsoft Power Automate and the Microsoft Power Suite, OR other similar software i.e. (Microsoft Power Automate, Ansible, Terraform, UiPath, Automation Anywhere, etc.)
  • Evidence of 3+ years’ experience developing reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI or other industry standard tools (Tableau, Looker, Metabase)
  • Demonstrated experience developing solutions using the Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Experience across the entire platform, PowerApps Canvas, Model Driven Apps, Power Automate flows
  • Experience designing business processes and integrations between Microsoft and other applications
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with Azure cloud services.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps
  • Extensive experience using Power BI and Power Apps
  • Experience with Power Automate
  • Experience with M, DAX and SQL.
  • Experience with ETL design, analytics and reporting
  • Experience with developing and using data models
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs
  • Experience with data development and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Oracle BI
  • Detail-oriented mindset and ability to troubleshoot data integrity issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities as communicated by The Division of Research and The Graduate School.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Power Apps Suite, including Power Automate, Power Apps, DataVerse, DataFlows, SharePoint, and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience developing business solutions using Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Experience with developing dashboards in Microsoft Power BI or similar platforms.
  • Experience designing and building forms using Microsoft Power Apps.
  • Knowledge of JSON, PowerShell, VBScript.
  • Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities
  • Programming / scripting experience and knowledge of software development.
  • Effective Project Management experience.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in computing fields, information sciences, similar field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop PowerApps and Power Automate solutions that meet business requirements and remain flexible and agile to work with similar software running on different platforms.
  • Connect data from different sources such as but not limited to Oracle, MariaDB, Amazon RedShift, Microsoft Dataverse, and SharePoint.
  • Design, implement, test, troubleshoot and maintain complex business logic and workflows using Power Automate or similar software.
  • Communicate with nontechnical business users to translate process requests into specific business requirements that will be used to implement the required automations and business intelligence solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for Power Automate Flows or similar software as needed.
  • Serve as technical lead for one or more aspects of the system.
  • Analyze requirements and communicate and coordinate with staff and internal stakeholders related to the system and/or project.
  • Develop, program, and/or deploy automation workflows for deployment, configuration, and/or monitoring of systems/services.
  • Manage, maintain, select, and develop automation tools and infrastructure, including security configurations.
  • Perform integration, migration, configuration, and security of existing applications and services into automated infrastructures in collaboration with other campus units such as IT, HR, and finance as needed.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders, providing guidance and training to staff.
