About The Position

The Automation Processing Coordinator will provide training and support for staff in the automation and processing areas. This role involves developing, updating, and maintaining standard operating procedures and quality control processes. The coordinator will possess a thorough knowledge of automation, with the ability to recognize and correct issues with minimal support. They will prepare performance reports for automation in specimen processing, investigate error trends, manage new test code builds and updates, and ensure tube labeling compliance. Additionally, this role will identify and implement process improvements to enhance automation efficiency, act as the primary liaison with service technicians to minimize downtime during servicing or repair, and maintain the cleanliness of equipment and work areas, troubleshooting as needed. The position requires adherence to all policies regarding maintenance, function checks, and quality control with proper documentation.

Requirements

  • Registered Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or bachelor's degree in chemical, biological or physical science required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.
  • Will limit access to protected health information (PHI) to the information reasonably necessary to do the job.
  • Will share information only on a need to know basis for work purposes.
  • Access to verbal, written and electronic PHI for this job has been determined based on job level and job responsibility within the organization. Computerized access to PHI for this job has been determined as described above and is controlled via user ID and password.

Responsibilities

  • Provides training and support for staff on the automation and processing areas.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains standard operating procedures and quality control processes as needed.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of the automation with the ability to recognize and correct issues with minimal support.
  • Prepares reports to illustrate the performance of automation for specimen processing. This includes investigating error trends, new test code builds, test code updates, and tube labeling compliance.
  • Identifies and implements process improvement opportunities to improve the efficiency of automation for processing areas.
  • Acts as primary liaison with service technicians to limit impact and shorten downtime during automation servicing or repair.
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work areas. Troubleshoots as needed.
  • Follows all policies regarding performance of maintenance, function checks and quality control with proper documentation.
