About The Position

Boccard Life Sciences, an industrial integrator with operations in 35 countries, specializes in designing, manufacturing, assembling, and installing process solutions for the Food & Ingredients, Pharmaceutical, Cosmetics, and Brewing Industries worldwide. The Automation Project Manager, based in Utah, is responsible for the successful execution of automation projects, with a strong emphasis on the Electrical, Industrial IT, and Automation (EIA) phase. This role involves comprehensive planning, organization, and resource coordination to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and adhere to organizational standards. The Project Manager acts as the primary point of contact for project scheduling, staffing, and stakeholder communication throughout the EIA process.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience, OR Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience.
  • Proficiency in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) including Rockwell Studio 5000, Schneider Unity Modicon, and Siemens TIA Portal.
  • Proficiency in Human Machine Interface (HMI) software including Rockwell Factory Talk SE and ME, Wonderware InTouch and WSP, and Siemens WinCC.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as AS-i, Ethernet IP, Profinet, Profibus, and CANopen.
  • Basic understanding of automation systems and technologies (PLC, SCADA, DCS).
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and ability to use project management tools.
  • Proficiency in English is essential for regular communication with clients across Canada and the United States.
  • Authorized to work in the US.

  • French speaker will be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with other departments and divisions to establish project offers by estimating the EIA part and proposing an architecture.
  • Take note of user requirement specifications.
  • Defend the offer to the customer with the designated team.
  • Define a schedule with different milestones and conduct weekly monitoring.
  • Manage budgets and control changes.
  • Define internal and external resource requirements.
  • Develop specifications for EIA materials.
  • Define the design with the process team and validate the functional description and write functional analysis.
  • Establish regular client contact and document each meeting.
  • Supervise contractors and monitor manufacturing progress (at supplier and customer sites).
  • Coordinate and ensure the commissioning of facilities.
  • For large-scale projects, manage a functional team to perform the following phases or, in smaller projects, perform these phases directly: Establish a requirement specification for electrical consulting (cabinet manufacturing and wiring on site).
  • Develop I/O List from Equipment List and P&ID.
  • Develop Automation program and/or HMI program from internal development specifications or those of the client.
  • Update as-built electrical drawings.
  • Conduct internal tests / FAT / SAT / Commissioning, documenting their respective protocols.
  • Write Operator Manual of installation and provide user training, as well as the technical file of the equipment.
