About The Position

We're looking for an Automation Engineering Technician to support the build, integration, testing, and deployment of advanced automation systems used throughout our manufacturing operations. In this hands-on role, you'll work closely with Automation Engineers to assemble automation cells, wire electrical controls, fabricate equipment components, troubleshoot systems, and support commissioning activities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working across electrical, mechanical, controls, and fabrication disciplines to bring automated manufacturing solutions to life. Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered
  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial automation, manufacturing equipment, machine building, or related fabrication and assembly work
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, controls, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and engineering documentation
  • Experience with electrical panel assembly, wiring, sensors, interlocks, and automation hardware
  • Hands-on fabrication experience including welding, drilling, grinding, fitting, fastening, and equipment assembly
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to travel periodically to support automation deployments and commissioning activities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk View HMI development and configuration
  • Experience supporting robotic work cells or advanced manufacturing automation
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, rigging, machine guarding, and industrial equipment installation
  • Familiarity with industrial safety systems and manufacturing standards
  • Experience working in cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Python or other programming language experience

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, and integrate automated manufacturing cells and equipment
  • Build electrical panels, install field wiring, sensors, safety devices, and control components
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), equipment debugging, validation, and documentation
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC and HMI systems
  • Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and bills of material
  • Fabricate machine frames, guarding, fixtures, brackets, equipment stands, and tooling
  • Perform cutting, drilling, tapping, grinding, fitting, welding, and mechanical assembly activities
  • Install robots, pneumatic systems, process equipment, and peripheral automation hardware
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and mechanical issues during build and commissioning
  • Support equipment installation, startup, and commissioning at Chromalloy sites
  • Perform routine maintenance and replacement of automation components and field devices
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives that improve reliability, standardization, and equipment performance
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area and follow all safety and quality standards
