About The Position

BWAY Corporation, a subsidiary of Mauser Packaging Solutions, is a leading North American supplier of general line rigid containers. BWAY operates 25 plants throughout the United States and Canada serving industry leading customers on a national basis. BWAY’s rigid metal containers include paint cans, steel pails, aerosol cans, F-style containers, monotop cans, pour top cans, ammunition boxes and an oil can. The Company also manufactures rigid plastic packaging including pails, drums, and hybrid paint cans. This role is responsible for automation and control systems design, specifications, programming, and simulation of production equipment. The position involves collecting task data, creating project schedules, tracking progress, and preparing updates related to the installation and improvement of existing production equipment. The engineer will provide leadership and strategic direction for the NASP use of Automation and lowering dependency on labor. This includes developing plans for testing and debugging automation equipment and applying knowledge of engineering technology. The role requires programming, troubleshooting, and evaluating design considerations for new equipment. The engineer will design engineering solutions to meet manufacturing facilities requirements and monitor budgets to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency. Assistance will be provided with the preparation of project scope, cost justification, and AFE to management for approval. Ensuring on-time delivery of projects within internal budgets by monitoring project costs, quality, scope, and schedules, and preparing progress reports is crucial. The engineer will lead and participate in engineering design reviews as required by management. This position also involves conducting R&D for the integration and testing of electronic/mechanical components and systems, and the development of applications. Applying mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures, and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production equipment is expected. Collaboration with the maintenance department to ensure preventative and predictive maintenance is also a key responsibility. Programming software to configure and make modifications to automated systems and process control systems, including maintaining a backup library of robotic, PLC, and instrumentation software, is required. Evaluating, selecting, and coordinating with outside vendors for the design, fabrication, and installation of automation systems is part of the role. Some national and international travel to company locations for project-based work is involved, less than 5 days per week. Travel to locations could include but is not limited to: Cincinnati, OH; York, PA; Homerville, GA; Garland, TX; Memphis, TN; and Mexico.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Controls/Industrial Engineering or other related Engineering degree.
  • Alternatively, 10 years of experience with hydraulics, robotics, electrical systems, and automation.
  • Skills (10 yrs exp) in: MS Office; Visio; Inventor; Auto Cad; RSLogix 500 and 5000; Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC; industrial sensors; and pneumatic systems.
