About The Position

Automation Engineer for BWay Corporation to work at our Chicago, IL loc. Responsible for automation + control systems design, specifications, programming + simulation of production equipment. Collect task data, create project schedules, track progress + prep updates relative to installation + improvement of existing production equipment. Provide leadership + strategic direction for NASP use of Automation + lowering dependency on labor. Develop plans for testing + debugging automation equipment + applying knowledge of engineering technology. Program, troubleshoot + evaluate design considerations for new equipment. Design engineering solutions to meet manufacturing facilities requirements + monitor budget to maximize production equipment quality + efficiency. Assist w/ prep of project scope, cost justification + AFE to management for approval. Ensure on-time delivery of projects within internal budgets by monitoring projects costs, quality, scope + schedules + prep progress reports. Lead + participate in engineering design reviews as required by management. Conduct R&D for integration + testing of electronic/mechanical components + systems + development of apps. Apply mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures + related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair + modify developmental + production equipment. Work w/ maintenance dept to ensure preventative + predictive maintenance. Program software to configure + make modifications to automated systems + process control systems including maintaining backup library of robotic, PLC + instrumentation software. Evaluate, select + coordinate w/ outside vendors for design, fabrication + install of automation systems. Some national and international travel to company locs for project-based work is involved less than 5 days/week. Travel to locations could include but is not limited to: Cincinnati, OH; York, PA; Homerville, GA; Garland, TX; Memphis, TN; and Mexico.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Controls/Industrial Engineering or other related Engineering degree
  • 10 years of experience with hydraulics, robotics, electrical systems, and automation
  • Skills (10 yrs exp) in: MS Office; Visio; Inventor; Auto Cad; RSLogix 500 and 5000; Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC; industrial sensors; and pneumatic systems
