About The Position

Forvia, a sustainable mobility technology leader, is seeking an Automation Engineer. This role involves pioneering technology for mobility experiences that matter to people. The engineer will work with project managers to develop automation cells, verify supplier adherence to standards, and support various shop floor programs including mechanical tooling, robot programming, electrical troubleshooting, cycle time improvements, and machine debugging. Additionally, the role includes developing preventive maintenance plans for automation cells, leading minor automation upgrades, and interfacing with the Automation team in FIS BG to share best practices and align new system deployments. The engineer will autonomously follow up on technical files, design studies, startup testing, and maintenance readiness of automatic functions integrated by suppliers. A proactive approach to acquiring, developing, and sharing technical competencies, along with coaching process technicians, is expected. The goal is to minimize equipment downtime and implement continuous improvement actions to enhance the overall production system's TRS (Technical Repair Service).

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in automation in manufacturing engineering department or automation design or robot programming
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred
  • Good technical skills on product and process
  • Strong communication skills
  • International mindset
  • Proficient level of English required
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of tooling (EOAT, Sonics, Bowl feeders, Slides, Sensors, etc.…)
  • Electrical schematic
  • Robot programming (Fanuc, ABB, UR)
  • Camera verification software (Cognex, Keyence, Sick, etc.…)
  • Able to coach and share personal knowledge to others
  • This position is not eligible now or in the future for Visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Work with project managers to help develop automation cells being implemented into saline. Verifying Suppliers are following Mechanical, Robotic & Electrical standards
  • Work on shop floor for programs supporting Mechanical tooling, Robot programming, Electrical troubleshooting, Cycle time improvements, and Machine debugging
  • Work with maintenance department to develop Preventive Maintenance for automation cells, and lead techs to perform these tasks
  • Lead minor automation upgrades to serial programs with focus on reducing non-ergo friendly operations, reducing MOD, etc.
  • Interface with the Automation team in FIS BG, sharing best practices, aligning deployments of new systems.
  • Autonomously carry out the follow up of the technical files, design studies, startup testing and maintenance readiness of the automatic functions integrated by the suppliers in the production equipment.
  • Pro-active behavior for the acquisition, the development, and the sharing of technical competencies. Coach and lead process techs
  • Minimize equipment downtime and perform continues improvement actions to improve TRS on overall production system.
  • Assist with any additional tasks as assigned by the company
