About The Position

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Automation Engineer to partner closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to identify and implement automation opportunities. This role is responsible for supporting new and existing projects through the design, programming, simulation, and testing of automated processes and machinery. The Automation Engineer will play a key role in driving efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement within the facility.

Requirements

  • BS in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing) required
  • 5+ years of experience with manufacturing automation systems
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Experience installing and validating automation systems
  • Experience with robots and vision system integration
  • Experience with new process development and machine design
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers (price, delivery, and service)

Responsibilities

  • Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Know emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.
  • Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Understand and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately.
  • Responsible for developing manufacturing solutions using automated and semi-automated equipment (PLC’s, HMI’s, Robotics, Vision Systems, etc.)
  • Serve as the technical expert on machine specifications, controls, integration, installation, programming, servicing and modification.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to identify new automation opportunities
  • Pursue opportunities to reduce costs, improve product quality, and consistency
  • Project management
  • Create accurate, complete, and clear documentation of new machinery and processes
  • Establish automated equipment efficiencies, PM programs, cleaning programs and documentation of these activities.
