Automation Engineer - Nucor Towers & Stuctures
About The Position
Nucor Towers and Structures (NTS) is a new entity within Nucor, focused on the execution of our strategy to “Expand Beyond” our core business. As a part of Nucor’s New Markets product group, NTS is focused on the exciting growth potential in the power distribution market. Our current production facility is in West Hazleton, Pennsylvania with three new greenfield facilities going up in Decatur, Alabama, Crawfordsville, Indiana, and Brigham City, Utah. We are seeking an Automation Engineer who will take ownership over automation and electrical functions at Nucor Towers & Structures Utah (NTSUT). NTSUT will feature state-of-the-art controls, automation, and robotics for advanced steel manufacturing, and the teammate will be responsible for maximizing machine productivity. The teammate must be able to support the integration of robots into custom designed manufacturing cells and fabrication processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent work experience
- Diverse background in PLCs, HMIs, and industrial controls
- Ability to travel for training and alignment with the other NTS sites
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and drives
- Experience with ABB robots
- Experience with Ignition
- Experience working in a greenfield environment
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and upgrade automation systems at key points in the production process
- Troubleshoot non-functioning components including servos, sensors, and control components
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems
- Attend automation, robotics, and equipment supplier training
- Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
