Automation Engineer

CoherentWilsonville, WA

About The Position

This role involves participating in the design of complex assembly stations that combine precise, repeatable component placement, active alignment, and metrology of laser beams. The engineer will develop Labview-based and Python software applications for assembling, aligning, testing, calibrating lasers and laser measurement devices, simulating and programming robot arms for assembly automation, and developing applications to collect and store critical data to a database. The position requires providing regular detailed schedule and cost estimates for project tasks, delivering project tasks on schedule, and working with engineering team members to define and optimize testing requirements. The role also includes participating in technical reviews, developing test plans to validate and assess the quality of applications, and providing support and updates for legacy Labview application software. Close collaboration with engineers to validate and debug designs is essential, as is the ability to work well both as a team member and independently.
