About The Position

Automation / Electrical Engineer Location: Woodburn, IN Type: Long Term Contract Wage: $50/hr - $55/hr Depending on Experience If you’re an Automation Engineer who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to startup and you’re comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, this is a strong opportunity to step into a high-impact, long-term contract role with real ownership. This position supports major capital projects inside a highly automated industrial plant. You’ll be hands-on with electrical design, controls programming, and full project execution. You will be working alongside a collaborative team that values accountability and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • 2–4+ years in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Electrical design experience using CAD tools
  • Strong PLC & controls experience (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell)
  • Experience with: Ladder Logic, Structured Text, GRAFCET
  • Experience with PanelView HMIs
  • Experience with VFDs and motion control systems
  • Familiarity with industrial networks: Ethernet, ControlNet, Data Highway+
  • Experience supporting or leading capital projects or equipment upgrades
  • Ability to manage: Schedules
  • Ability to manage: Vendor coordination
  • Ability to manage: Equipment procurement & installation
  • Strong communicator (technical + cross-functional)
  • Team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to adapt to changing project priorities

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD Electrical experience
  • Robotics experience (Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa)
  • Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, etc.)
  • Experience with SEW, MOVIMOT, or Control Techniques drives

Responsibilities

  • Own the electrical and automation scope for large capital projects
  • Design and develop control systems and electrical schematics
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and motion control systems
  • Lead projects from design → procurement → installation → startup → acceptance
  • Build cost estimates and technical project schedules
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Support equipment commissioning, ramp-up, and troubleshooting
  • Train and support plant maintenance teams on new systems
  • Assist with pre-studies and feasibility for future automation projects
