About The Position

Initiate, develop, test, and implement, the service’s automated assays to increase the operational and throughput efficiencies in the laboratory. Collaborates with the Bioinformatics and/or Information Technology (IT) teams to integrate automated laboratory solution data outputs into departmental systems such as Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) Calibrate, maintain and minimally repair a variety of laboratory instruments, including liquid handling robotics Create new automation protocols on current equipment to meet the needs of the laboratory and scaling up sample throughput Training of technicians and professional staff on instrument use and updated automated protocols; Create user guides, reference guides, and all other training documents related to automation needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related field, plus laboratory experience in nucleic acid research laboratory
  • Experience operating and scripting of automated liquid handling systems, including Revvity and Hamilton liquid handling automation
  • Ability to repair and troubleshoot issues that arise with liquid handling equipment, automated storage freezers and other general laboratory equipment
  • Good laboratory and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and efficiently are essential
  • Extensive knowledge of molecular biology equipment, industry trends, automation and related protocols
  • Ability to multi-task

Nice To Haves

  • experience with Tecan, Agilent, and/or Beckman Coulter (Biomek i Series)
