About The Position

The Automation Engineer - Intra-logistical will be a key role responsible for the installation and oversight of an automated intra-logistical warehouse system at the new LEGO manufacturing site. This position specifically manages the automated equipment within the Materials Warehouse area, which includes a variety of systems such as conveyors, elevators, shuttle cars, robots, palletizers, and lidders, along with their supporting infrastructure. The primary goal is to ensure the LEGO Production team consistently meets the company's reliability requirements and maintains high product quality through diligent maintenance of the automation equipment, encompassing preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies. The role also involves establishing detailed maintenance work instructions, user documentation, and troubleshooting guides. The engineer will conduct in-depth analyses and investigations into equipment failures that impact product quality, uptime, and packing capacity. Furthermore, the Automation Engineer will serve as a superuser for critical platforms like PLC programming, HMI, COMBI 2.0 ERP, SAP, and WMS. A significant aspect of the role is to develop and implement standardized approaches for robots, programming standards, safety protocols, and operator interfaces, aligning with global implementations. The engineer will perform Root Cause Analysis of errors to propose and implement corrective and preventive actions across various Automated Warehouse operations. This position also leads engineering and technical initiatives aimed at resolving issues related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost, and is responsible for generating Power BI reports on equipment capacity. The role includes performing and driving risk and opportunity assessments for equipment, managing the equipment life cycle, mapping and standardizing critical equipment parameters, and continuously improving machinery and processes. Finally, the engineer will electronically standardize and update machinery software to ensure alignment with supplier and operational needs. The Warehouse department, where this role is situated, is crucial for receiving, storing, and delivering all necessary productive material to support production and fulfill customer orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficient work experience in PLC programming.
  • Working experience with intra-logistical systems, automatic retrieval systems, palletizers, rolling conveyors, lidders and/or palletizers.
  • Proven experience with WMS.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens (PLC programming).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the LEGO Production team meets the reliability requirements of the company and product quality through maintaining the automation of the equipment (preventative, predictive, corrective maintenance).
  • Establish detail maintenance work instructions, user documentations, and trouble-shooting experience.
  • Conduct analysis and investigations on equipment failures that significantly affect product quality, equipment uptime and packing capacity.
  • Superuser for platforms like PLC programming, HMI, COMBI 2.0 ERP, SAP and WMS.
  • Develop a standardized approach for robots, programming standards, safety protocols, operator interface, following standard and global implementations.
  • Root Cause Analysis of errors to propose and implement corrective/preventive actions in the different Automated Warehouse operations.
  • Lead the engineering and technical initiatives to solve the opportunities in safety, quality, delivery, cost areas.
