About The Position

Pacific Scientific EMC is seeking a multidisciplinary Automation Engineer II to design, advance, and sustain automation systems. The role serves as a technical authority across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and optical domains, leading equipment design, qualification, and sustainment from early concept through full-scale production. The engineer translates program requirements into tooling, fixtures, and integrated automation lines, working with cross-functional teams across multiple sites to scale processes from manual or semi-automated to fully automated solutions. The position is based on-site at one of three locations: Hollister, California; Chandler, Arizona; or Solon, Ohio. Travel of up to 50% across site locations is expected to support program needs. The role requires U.S. citizenship as stated in the qualifications; the posting also notes that export-control requirements may be met by U.S. persons or through obtaining the necessary government export authorizations, and that ongoing employment depends on appropriate authorizations. The salary range is $100,080 to $186,000, and the position is eligible for a bonus as part of the total compensation package.

  • Translate system requirements into principles of operation and integration strategies for full automation lines.
  • Apply mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and optical engineering expertise to deliver integrated automation solutions.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for deployed automation platforms, guiding improvements and lifecycle management.
  • Develop manufacturing bills of materials, operating and maintenance procedures, spare parts lists, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Provide hands-on training and troubleshooting support to sustain engineering and operations teams.
  • Lead system integration, including requirements translation, architecture development, and functional validation.
  • Troubleshoot complex, multi-technology systems and guide teams through root cause analysis.
