About The Position

Designs, develops, and implements automated manufacturing equipment and control systems (Industrial automation). Troubleshoots complex technical issues, leads validation efforts, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies while ensuring continuous improvement and safety. Develops, codes, and commissions automated systems, including PLC programming, robotics, and motion control systems. Troubleshoots and resolves complex technical issues and non-standard failures in automated and control machinery to minimize downtime. Manages automation projects, including scope, timelines, and driving initiatives from design to deployment. Validates protocols and ensures all automation systems comply with safety, industry, and quality standards. Analyzes production workflows and data to optimize performance, increase efficiency, and reduce operational costs. Creates technical reports, standard operating procedures, and electrical documentation. Provides technical leadership and training. Coordinates with external vendors for design, procurement, and installation of new equipment. Maintains reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual and dependable to meet the needs of the department and the organization. Executes each essential duty satisfactorily to perform the job successfully. Follows all safety procedures required in the work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions. Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receiving and giving feedback, and treats everyone with respect. Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects. Follows all department quality standards/criteria. Raises concerns and issues to the immediate manager. Able to understand and demonstrate Cambro company culture, display company core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service). Understands department’s key performance indicators and contributes to achieving these goals both individually and as a team. Other duties as needed or required. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Automation, or Industrial Engineering or verifiable/equivalent experience and vocational training in automation applications.
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in an injection molding environment.
  • Ability to apply concepts of advanced math and geometry including statistics.
  • Must be able to analyze and make decisions based upon collected data.
  • 2D or 3D drawing capability for automated equipment design on AutoCAD or SolidWorks required.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (ANSI Y14.5 -2018).
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of industrial codes required (ADA, OSHA, NEC, NFPA, IBC, ISO).
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot PLC controllers.
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot HMI units.
  • Ability to set-up, program, and troubleshoot Star Automation and/or Yushin robots.
  • Ability to set-up, program, and troubleshoot 6 axis robots.
  • Ability to design and write electrical schematics.
  • Ability to design, fabricate, and wire electrical control panels.
  • Ability to implement and program servo and stepper motor systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to create and edit text documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and schedules.
  • Digital photography and file manipulation of digital images experience required.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic control circuits and electro-pneumatic troubleshooting, electrical control panel assembly and wiring, electrical control circuit design and troubleshooting, PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to travel to multiple facilities and suppliers in the USA and possibly internationally.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting and sometime changing priorities.
  • Has the ability to adapt quickly to new projects and assignments while being dedicated and an innovative problem solver.
  • Is also a creative thinker who is results oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy.

  • Extensive Mechanical Design and Engineering Focused experience with Scada systems and Databases.
