About The Position

This role focuses on identifying automation opportunities within software testing processes, designing and executing QA tests using scripts, and developing test automation frameworks. The Senior Automation Developer will work with QA analysts and software developers to find solutions, review and improve test automation approaches, and provide technical support for Test Automation tools. They will also analyze testing and DevOps processes, standards, and best practices to drive improvements and participate in Sprint Retrospectives to examine current Quality Assurance practices. The position involves transforming functional, business, and system knowledge into effective test case planning and execution, creating test data, analyzing testing results, and ensuring client acceptability. Collaboration with developers, architects, and product owners is key for establishing effective test plans. The role requires applying QA and technical expertise to track and resolve testing and production issues, ensuring testing automation is under source control, documented, and has disaster recovery in place.

5+ years of experience working with federal/provincial/broader public-sector healthcare providers
Knowledge of Public Sector Enterprise Architecture artifacts (or similar), processes and practices, and ability to produce technical documentation that comply with industry standard practices
In-depth knowledge of industry standard such as Project Management Institute (PMI) and Public Sector I&IT project management methodologies
Knowledge and experience with Public Sector Health related projects
Knowledge and understanding of Ministry policy and IT project approval processes and requirements
Public Sector Experience adopting and adhering to Public Sector Unified I&IT Project Methodology, Public Sector Enterprise Architecture and Public Sector Gating process, and OPS Standard Systems Development Methodologies
Experience with large complex IT Health-related projects
7+ years of experience in identifying opportunities for automation within software development and testing processes
Design, develop, and execute automated QA tests to validate application functionality
Design and maintain test automation scripts using established automation frameworks (tools such as Selenium framework)
Experience in identifying and documenting bugs and quality issues in development, service or business processes
Experience with installing applications and databases relevant to automation
Knowledge and understanding of testing methods in an object-oriented environment
Knowledge and experience working in traditional and agile teams using standard and DevOps processes and tools
Knowledge and experience using at least one programming language
Experience with enterprise-level performance testing tools involves a structured process of scripting, scenario design, execution, and analysis using tools such as LoadRunner
Performing functional and non-functional system testing of the following: Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) solutions including testing of patches, new releases, acceptance testing of enhancement request functionality for modules of the product and other enhancements, and regression testing for implementation; in house web applications; HL7-FHIR based webservices (RESTFUL/JSON/XML); Application Programming Interfaces (API); reporting solutions; integration components, extensions, and enhancements
Performing testing of Security Components including use of SAML and JWT
Creating complete system testing documentation and artefacts such as: test strategies, test plans, test use cases, test scripts
API testing tools to query and test interfaces at the messaging layer, web service queries using tools such as SOAP-UI, POSTMAN or via Programming Languages
Knowledge and experience with information retrieval packages, and data queries and ad-hoc queries (using SQL) and other query languages
Performing Accessibility testing to websites, web content and mobile applications to conform to the World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, tools to support Web Accessibility testing in support of AODA legislation
Test results reports, including performance and security testing results, for use in Defect Reviews with clients, partners and project team
Business Intelligence (BI) solution to plan, prepare, and execute testing of BI solution, including data setup/integration and validating data in the BI solution accessed through predefined analytical reports, ad-hoc reporting tools and dashboards to ensure accuracy, completeness, and data integrity of the solution
Validating successful deployment of releases in production environments, preparing reports on testing results
7+ years of experience with identifying and documenting issues and risks
7+ years of experience with creating and maintaining defect logs and defect summary reports (using tools such as Jira or Confluence, Test rail)
7+ years of experience with updating tasks and project status
7+ years of experience with participating in QA and cross functional team meetings
7+ years of experience with prioritizing test execution based on business priority, defect patterns, and available testing time
