About The Position

Eaton’s ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking an Automation/Controls Maintenance Technician for the 1st Shift. The core hours for this position are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The hourly rate is $41.92, though actual salary may vary based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. This role involves performing routine and predictive maintenance on various automated equipment, coordinating electrical design for new equipment, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and supporting Industry 4.0 initiatives. The technician will also work with OEMs for spare parts, support the automated paint line, collaborate with IT on network-connected systems, assist with installations and upgrades, maintain technical documentation, and ensure compliance with safety standards. The position also requires logging maintenance activities in a CMMS, supporting audits, driving improvements in SQDCI, and assisting team members with technical issues.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, with a focus on automation and controls.
  • Allen Bradley PLC programming experience, or equivalent.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Basic skills in reading, arithmetic and writing in English.
  • Familiarity with DC and AC power up to three phase 480-volt AC.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, automation, or related field preferred.
  • Advanced skills in the following: Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, PLC troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience in automated manufacturing.
  • IT network experience.
  • ABB robotic weld cell trouble shooting and programming experience.
  • Associate degree in electronics from an accredited institution.
  • Working knowledge of metal fabrication equipment operations and tooling (lasers, powder coat, turret presses, dies, presses etc.), and wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Computer literate with Windows, MSOffice, Excel, as well as other industrial software.
  • Experience reading and understanding hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience modifying or programming PLC’s and HMI’s.
  • Strong technical background.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and parts breakdown.
  • Dexterity required for operating equipment, machinery, and computers.
  • Able to work in various locations including heights.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical fundamentals and shop machine tools.
  • Capable of welding, pipe fitting, rigging.
  • Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of employees.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and predictive maintenance on semi-automatic and automatic equipment including turrets, punches, fiber laser, and automated material storage towers.
  • Work with all engineering staff to coordinate electrical design requirements of new equipment and assure compliance with procurement specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to minimize downtime.
  • Work with engineering to identify Industry 4.0 IoT solutions to support OEE activities on critical equipment. Interface I4.0 compatible solutions with existing equipment to establish OEE metrics.
  • Work directly with Equipment OEMs to identify and procure critical spare parts required to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Support and maintain automated Paint Line with power and free conveyor system: interface with PLCs to diagnose and correct faults, troubleshoot conveyor delays, identify, and replace faulty sensors, and HMIs.
  • Work directly with IT to resolve issues related to label printers, network equipment, scanners, and other off network connected systems.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and coordinate with vendors for major repairs. Drive and support PLC upgrades and I4.0 initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, schematics, and system records. Track and perform quarterly backups on critical equipment PLCs and Operating Systems.
  • Mount equipment, assemble workstations, and adjust or replace racking as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and internal safety protocols.
  • Log all maintenance activities and repairs in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Work as a team to meet CMMS tracking goals.
  • Support internal and external audits, inspections, and facility compliance initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Inventory (SQDCI).
  • Assist employees within the team with technical issues and facilitate solutions.
  • Perform critical jobs or tasks within the department to cover manning shortages as needed.
  • Maintain and follow all safety requirements.
  • Support in maintaining training records.
  • Support gathering and reporting maintenance metrics data.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime, including Saturdays and up to 12 hours in a shift, as needed by the business.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift (eight to twelve hours) and perform repetitious tasks.
