About The Position

The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems and ensuring the integration of operational technology (OT) within the site infrastructure. The role focuses on improving system efficiency, reliability, and safety through automation and OT management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering: Preferably in Electrical, Mechatronics, or a closely related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred OR an Associate’s degree in Engineering: Preferably in Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment experience minimum required.
  • Expertise in one or more of SCADA, PLC, DCS systems
  • Strong understanding of modern manufacturing processes, preferably in a regulated environment
  • Demonstrated experience of design/execution of automation project deliverables.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and environments in the manufacturing sector.
  • Experience with any of the following a plus: IT Networking, Vision Systems (such as Cognex) and/or Validation or Qualification experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop automation solutions to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Securely integrate new and existing automation systems within IT/OT infrastructure.
  • Monitor the performance of automation and OT systems to ensure optimal operation.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Department for the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
  • Lead and manage automation projects through design, execution, and qualification project phases.
  • Work closely with other functions to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions across the site.
  • Ensure all automation-OT systems comply with safety regulations and standards via design assurance during project design and implementation and by conducting regular audits and risk assessments during operation.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and domain knowledge for site automation systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS) and connectivity (OPC-UA, MQTT).
  • As the subject matter expert of site technology, provide training and support to staff on the use and maintenance of automation-OT systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including operation manuals and technical guides.
