About The Position

The Automation Engineer designs, develops, and implements automated systems, software, or machinery to improve operational efficiency, safety, and productivity. They are responsible for creating, testing, and troubleshooting robotic systems, PLCs, or software scripts to reduce human intervention and support maintenance as needed. Key roles include automating production lines, streamlining IT workflows, collaborating with cross-functional teams for continuous improvement, and troubleshooting automation to bring process related equipment online in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electrical), or Bachelor’s in Industrial Technology, with 2-3 years’ experience or AAS with emphasis in automated distribution, fulfillment centers, or material handling engineering and at least 3-5 years’ experience.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and control logic.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MHE automation OEMs (e.g., Dematic, Vanderlande, SSI, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the engineering authority for warehouse automation equipment including conveyors, sorters, robotics, ASRS, shuttles, AGVs, and automated packing systems.
  • Ensure proper configuration, calibration, and optimization of automation equipment.
  • Diagnose root causes of mechanical, electrical, or controls issues in the automation environment.
  • Develop, program, and simulate automated machinery, robotics, and control systems (e.g., PLCs) for logistics or IT processes.
  • Analyze workflows and identify new opportunities to automate tasks, reducing manual effort andoperational costs
  • Test automation hardware/software to ensure they meet specifications and debug errors or performance issues.
  • Work with engineering, production, and IT teams to implement solutions and create detailed documentation, such as design specs and manuals.
  • Maintain and monitor existing automation, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and process up time.
  • Using Experience and knowledge of automation tools, software to design, debug, and troubleshoot complex automated systems.
  • Identify, analyze and resolve technical issues in a logical and structured manner.
  • Interpret complex technical data and requirements to others without a technical background.
  • Work and coordinate with cross functional teams in all facets.
