About The Position

A busy equipment manufacturer located in Montgomeryville, PA is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to join their team. This person will use their knowledge and experience with programming, electrical drawings, electrical codes, designing of UL listed control panels, and assembling of electrical components, to provide programming, HMI screen design, and electrical schematics for the custom control panel that is designed for each piece of equipment. The Automation and Controls Engineer will also use their expertise to provide increased knowledge and oversight to engineering, production, and installation teams involving the automation, controls, and electrical portion of the pure water system. This is a customer-facing role requiring organization, attention to detail, and technical competence in ultrapure water systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of work experience in technical field, designing and programming PLC systems, and providing electrical schematics
  • Familiar with Instrumentation and Control Drawings (cabinet layout/wiring) and P&ID drawings
  • Must be proficient with PLC and HMI software used daily (Rockwell Automation as well as Automation Direct HMI including Connected Components Workbench, RSLogix500, Studio 5000, Factory Talk Studio, and Cscape)
  • Experience with electrical schematic design, along with building BOMs for instrumentation and control panels

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering team to program PLC control systems, and Human Machine Interfaces utilizing software to design and implement instrumentation and control systems for systems
  • Collaborate with engineering team to prepare PLC electrical schematics using AutoCAD or Draftsight
  • Provide programming and ladder logic for each water system using Connected Components Workbench, RSLogix500, Studio 5000, Factory Talk Studio, and Cscape
  • Create I/O and Alarm list utilizing P&ID Drawing and Project Description
  • Create control panel BOM's and instrument material take-offs from electrical schematics
  • Provide technical support for control panel fabrication and mounting components in accordance with wiring diagrams and schematics
