The Controls Engineer III is responsible for controls hardware design, programming, debug, and site-installation of turnkey custom automation equipment. This role involves working independently on larger or high complexity projects and/or multiple smaller projects, with occasional training of new and/or less senior engineers. The engineer will set technical direction for others on complex projects and perform peer reviews of their work. Responsibilities include reviewing customer requirements, proposals, cost estimates, and relevant regulations, attending Mechanical Design Reviews to understand machine functionality and incorporate controls hardware design elements, and translating device lists into controls hardware designs using AutoCad Electrical. The role also involves programming custom control and HMI programs, commissioning control hardware, debugging both hardware and software, and participating in Factory and Site Acceptance Tests.
