The Automation Controls Engineer II will be responsible for creating new programs for machines and complete integrated systems. This role involves assisting Checkout Technicians with factory testing, organizing and maintaining updated libraries of all PLC programs, Robot Programs, and auxiliary devices files and templates. The engineer will create hardware and software designs, implement them on machinery or integration projects, and develop new controls system designs. Additionally, they will evaluate cost alternatives for current and future controls designs, act as an advocate for the integrated packaging line in terms of functionality and project management, and play a supervisory role related to subcontractor vendors. The position requires reviewing and troubleshooting customer field issues, recommending viable solutions, and working on projects to improve speed, capacity, reliability, functionality, and ease of operation. The engineer will also assist the Service Department with troubleshooting machines, either remotely or on-site, and ensure that all programs adhere to Delkor’s standards and structures for clarity. Documentation creation to share knowledge with other Controls Engineers, Checkout, and Service Technicians is also a key responsibility. As the owner of a commercialized product line, the engineer will perform regular updates to the code base, maintain Delkor’s current standards, and identify improvements to share across all Delkor product lines. A strong emphasis is placed on following all industry safety standards (OSHA, EU Machinery Directive, local authorities) and driving the use of Safety Risk assessment in evaluating machinery for hazards. Other tasks or duties as assigned will also be part of the role.
