About The Position

The Automation Controls Engineer I is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining programs for machines, robotics, and complete systems. This role involves assisting checkout technicians with factory testing, creating documentation for knowledge sharing, and troubleshooting customer field issues. The engineer will work on projects to improve system performance and reliability, assist the service department with troubleshooting, and ensure programs adhere to standardized formats. The position also includes performing other assigned tasks.

Requirements

Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering (or Related Field) or two-year degree in Engineering (or equivalent and 3 years of related experience in the field of automation and robotics)
Familiarity with motion control, servo controls, HMI, and packaging equipment
Able to read, understand, analyze and problem solve electrical schematics and engineering related software programs.
Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.
Must exhibit a high level of inquisitiveness, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.
Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.
Self-motivated and able to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Create, modify and maintain programs for machines, robotics, 3rd party integration, and complete systems.
Assist Checkout Technicians with factory testing.
Create documentation to share knowledge with other Controls Engineers as well as Checkout and Service Technicians.
Review and troubleshoot customer field issues and recommend viable solutions for quick resolution.
Work on projects to improve speed, capacity, reliability, functionality, and ease of operation.
Assist Service Department in troubleshooting machines, either in the field via telephone or on-site at the customer’s facility.
Ensure that programs follow a standardized and structured format and notation for ease of understanding by co-workers and customers.
Perform other tasks or duties as assigned.
