About The Position

The Automation Controls Engineer I is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining programs for machines, robotics, third-party integration, and complete systems. This role involves assisting Checkout Technicians with factory testing, creating documentation for knowledge sharing, and troubleshooting customer field issues to recommend solutions. The engineer will work on projects to enhance system speed, capacity, reliability, functionality, and ease of operation. Additionally, they will support the Service Department in troubleshooting machines, either remotely or on-site, and ensure all programs adhere to standardized formats for clarity. This position also includes performing other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering (or Related Field) or two-year degree in Engineering (or equivalent and 3 years of related experience in the field of automation and robotics).
  • Familiarity with motion control, servo controls, HMI, and packaging equipment.
  • Able to read, understand, analyze and problem solve electrical schematics and engineering related software programs.
  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to tutor and/or lead others on designs and projects.
  • Must exhibit a high level of inquisitiveness, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.
  • Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision.

  • Possess arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, bend, hold, reach, carry, push and pull packages, supplies, and the like used by the Engineering Department and to support the production floor.

Nice To Haves

  • AB PLC experience preferred.
  • Fanuc Robot experience preferred.
  • AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred.
  • 3D modeling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work on projects to improve speed, capacity, reliability, functionality, and ease of operation.
  • Assist Service Department in troubleshooting machines, either in the field via telephone or on-site at the customer’s facility.
  • Ensure that programs follow a standardized and structured format and notation for ease of understanding by co-workers and customers.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned.
