About The Position

This role is responsible for creating, managing, and overseeing the DC Control system master plan. The manager will support plans and initiatives to maintain system performance, execute planned outages and troubleshooting, and develop relationships with other departments, vendors, and key stakeholders. Key responsibilities include identifying and communicating goals, building accountability, identifying improvement opportunities, and ensuring business needs are met. The role also involves developing the skills of site associates through training and work instruction development, participating in recruiting, and managing multiple projects within Operations. This includes owning the programming, definition, testing, and execution for Industrial Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, Industrial PCs, controls communication, and Human-to-Machine Interfaces. The manager will establish project activities, deliverables, milestones, and timelines, coordinate planning activities, track plan changes, and resolve critical issues. They will also identify necessary resources, deliver presentations and status reports, and lead root cause analysis for operational processes and automation equipment nonconformities. Supporting control system resolution, engaging cross-functional departments and vendor teams, and evaluating control systems performance, utilization, and capacities are also key. The role involves creating detailed reporting for system performance, implementing continuous improvement projects, and championing technology improvements to reduce effort, increase productivity, and accelerate business goals. Additionally, the manager will lead process improvement of control system architecture, change management, and the development/integration of electrical and control systems for automation equipment. They will ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, support the company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity, and promote a culture of belonging and respect among associates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical engineering, or related area OR 2 years’ experience as a multiskilled maintenance technician OR 2 years’ work experience in automation or control systems.

  • Certification in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Root Cause Analysis, or Ignition.

  • Participates in internal and external recruiting initiatives.
  • Manages multiple projects within Operations, defining scopes of work and project objectives.
  • Establishes project activities, deliverables, milestones, and timelines.
  • Coordinates planning activities, including business requirements, risk assessments, and target dates.
  • Tracks plan changes and ensures the resolution of critical issues.
  • Identifies the resources needed for project completion.
  • Delivers presentations, status reports, and project documentation to stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes operational processes, automation equipment, and case flow nonconformities.
  • Leads root cause analysis and drives equipment reliability and process stability.
  • Supports control system resolution.
  • Engages cross-functional departments and vendor teams as necessary.
  • Evaluates and manages control systems performance, utilization, and capacities.
  • Creates and leverages detailed reporting to understand system performance and implements continuous improvement projects.
  • Partners with customers and vendor contacts to enable maximum system performance.
  • Champions technology improvements to current platform standards.
  • Leads the process improvement of control system architecture, change management, and the development and integration of electrical and control systems for automation equipment.
  • Observes DC electrical safety and power systems and recovery.
  • Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments.
  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, providing recognition, and promoting a belonging mindset.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
