The Automation Control Systems Manager creates, manages, and oversees the DC Control system master plan. This role supports plans and initiatives to maintain system performance, executes planned outages and troubleshooting, and develops and maintains relationships with other departments, vendors, and key stakeholders. The manager identifies and communicates goals and objectives, builds accountability, and measures progress to achieve results. They also identify and address improvement opportunities, demonstrate adaptability, and promote continuous learning to ensure business needs are met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives. This role involves developing the skills and abilities of site associates by creating and facilitating training content and programs, including Associate Work Instruction development. Participation in internal and external recruiting initiatives to fill staffing opportunities is also a key aspect. The manager consults with business partners, managers, coworkers, and other key stakeholders, soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness. They manage multiple projects within Operations by defining scopes of work and project objectives, such as owning the programming definition, testing, and execution for Industrial Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, Industrial PCs, controls communication, and Human-to-Machine Interfaces. This includes establishing project activities, deliverables, milestones, and timelines, coordinating planning activities, tracking plan changes, and ensuring the resolution of critical issues. Identifying necessary resources for project completion and delivering presentations, status reports, and other project documentation to internal stakeholders and external suppliers at regular intervals are also core responsibilities. The manager troubleshoots and analyzes operational processes, automation equipment, and case flow nonconformities, leads root cause analysis, and drives equipment reliability and process stability. They support control system resolution, engage cross-functional departments and vendor teams as necessary, and evaluate and manage control systems performance, utilization, and capacities. Creating and leveraging detailed reporting to understand system performance and implementing continuous improvement projects around employee performance and system operations are crucial. The role involves partnering and maintaining transparent relationships with customers and other vendor contacts to enable maximum system performance. The manager champions technology improvements to current platform standards to reduce effort, increase productivity, and accelerate business goals. They lead the process improvement of control system architecture, change management, and the development and integration of electrical and control systems for automation equipment on product and packaging initiatives, capacity, and savings projects. Observing DC electrical safety and power systems and recovery by monitoring and ensuring department performance related to training, implementation, execution, and change management is also part of the role. This includes coordinating, completing, and overseeing job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs, identifying and communicating goals and objectives, building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results, identifying and addressing improvement opportunities, and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning. The manager provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, providing recognition, and promoting a belonging mindset in the workplace. They ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and support the company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans, utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy, and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.
