About The Position

Konica Minolta Sensing Americas, Inc. (KMSA) is a leading provider of advanced measurement, machine-vision, and automation solutions supporting customers across highly technical manufacturing environments. Our teams work collaboratively to deliver reliable systems that combine precision, automation, controls, and practical problem-solving. We are seeking an Automation and Controls Technician to support the configuration, programming, testing, commissioning, and ongoing service of Eines machine-vision and automation products used in KMSA projects. This hands-on role supports Eines systems throughout the installation and service lifecycle, including pre-installation preparation, system configuration, installation support, troubleshooting, production assistance, preventive maintenance, and customer-site service. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical aptitude, working knowledge of industrial controls and automation, comfort with software and system configuration, and the ability to troubleshoot effectively in both lab and customer-site environments. Success in this role requires strong documentation practices, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate closely with KMSA project teams, Eines technical personnel, and customer contacts. This position is well suited for a technician who enjoys hands-on technical work, field troubleshooting, and supporting complex machine-vision and automation systems from initial configuration through long-term customer support.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six months of hands-on programming, configuration, development, technical support, or field-service experience involving industrial automation, electronic systems, computer systems, machine vision, PLCs, robotics, or related technologies.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites and project locations as required.
  • Willingness to sign and comply with confidentiality requirements covering Eines proprietary products, systems, software, configuration methods, customer applications, and related technical knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational, technical, or university degree preferred, ideally in Electronics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Telecommunications, Automation, Mechatronics, a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with machine-vision systems, industrial controls, PLC programming, robotics integration, sensors, cameras, production-line communication, or automation troubleshooting strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Delphi, Visual C, Access/SQL databases, industrial software, control systems, or comparable technical platforms preferred.
  • Practical, hands-on problem-solving ability in time-sensitive manufacturing, customer-service, or field-support environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly and professionally during direct customer interaction.
  • Ability to work effectively with KMSA project teams, Eines technical personnel, customer-site contacts, and production personnel.
  • English proficiency required, working knowledge of Spanish preferred for coordination with Eines technical personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, program, test, commission, and support Eines machine-vision, automation, and control systems used in KMSA projects.
  • Work with Eines proprietary software, configuration tools, control logic, and system parameters to prepare equipment for customer deployment.
  • Support development, testing, and implementation of Eines application software and control-system updates.
  • Assist with configuration of machine-vision inspection tools, cameras, sensors, PLC interfaces, robotics interfaces, and related automation components.
  • Validate system functionality against project requirements, customer specifications, and product standards.
  • Perform pre-installation preparation for Eines products, including equipment pre-assembly, software loading, configuration checks, system testing, and acceptance testing prior to deployment.
  • Support installation, startup, commissioning, validation, and handoff of Eines systems at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, control, communication, and integration issues involving Eines products and customer production-line interfaces.
  • Provide hands-on production assistance during startup, ramp-up, troubleshooting, and ongoing operation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, operational checks, and technical adjustments to support reliable system performance.
  • Travel to customer sites and project locations as required to support installation, service, troubleshooting, and production needs.
  • Provide direct technical support to customers using Eines products supplied, installed, or supported by KMSA.
  • Communicate technical issues, corrective actions, and system status clearly and professionally to customer-site personnel and internal stakeholders.
  • Support urgent production issues by identifying root causes, recommending corrective actions, and implementing practical solutions.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate KMSA project resources or Eines technical personnel when needed.
  • Assist with customer training, knowledge transfer, and operational guidance related to Eines systems.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, configuration records, service notes, bills of materials, spare-parts lists, and technical support information for Eines products.
  • Document test results, field findings, corrective actions, software/configuration changes, and open technical issues.
  • Coordinate with KMSA project teams and Eines technical personnel on installation planning, configuration requirements, field implementation, and issue resolution.
  • Support project handoff by ensuring technical information is accurate, current, and available to internal teams and customer-support personnel.
  • Follow applicable KMSA procedures, Eines product requirements, quality expectations, safety practices, and project documentation standards.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and provide practical feedback to improve KMSA’s deployment, support, and service of Eines products.
  • Support continuous improvement of installation practices, troubleshooting methods, documentation quality, and customer-support processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Eines proprietary products, software, configuration methods, customer applications, and related technical knowledge.
