Working as a part of the Manufacturing Support Team, the Automation Specialist will be responsible for: Leading projects to implement, justify, and commission new factory automation equipment Assisting with designing new factory automation and testing equipment as necessary Designing and implementing tooling for factory use Troubleshooting existing factory automation equipment and other machines Implementing design and program improvements on factory equipment Facilitating controller and other hardware replacement, reprogramming, and upgrades Working with the Maintenance team to determine root cause of breakdowns, and implementing sustaining actions as part of The Perfect Repair Identifying, analyzing and leading the implementation of process improvements. Leading the planning, organizing, and directing of the completion of projects while ensuring they are on time, on budget, and within scope. Identifying and participating in projects to correct equipment and processes that present potential safety hazards. Reviewing, analyzing, and approving financial justifications for capital expenditures. Support lean manufacturing initiatives, including but not limited to 5S, SMED, line balancing, waste reduction, and Kanban. Continuously learning and becoming an expert in problem solving, continuous improvement, product manufacturability and manufacturing best practices. Ensuring drawing packages are designed based on criteria established by design engineering and manufacturing. Providing documentation support (ECN’s, work instructions, etc.) as required. Lead the planning, commissioning, certification of factory associates, creation of work instructions, maintenance planning, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities related to factory equipment Other duties as assigned.
