Automatic Lathe Operator
About The Position
Associates will perform all safety checks at the start of their shift on all cranes and tools and document this as necessary, continuing to perform safety checks throughout the shift. This role involves material handling through the operation of cranes, hoists, tables, forklifts, and other devices. The operator will be able to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and job routings, and record required information on proper forms. They will operate and interpret various measuring devices, monitor equipment for calibration needs, and perform inspections using Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions. The role also includes working with the department supervisor and maintenance to ensure machines are running smoothly, and performing housekeeping and other related duties.
Requirements
- Operate hoists and cranes in a safe manner.
- Knows how to operate general hand tools.
- Shop Equipment
- Lathe machine.
- Ability to work will in a fast paced environment to meet team expectations.
- Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.
- Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations to perform the job.
- Must have reading, writing and simple math skills.
- Must have a basic understanding of computers.
Responsibilities
- Perform all safety checks at the start of their shift on all cranes and tools and document this as necessary.
- Continue to perform safety checks throughout the shift.
- Material handling – operation of cranes, hoist, tables, forklifts, and other devices when necessary.
- Successfully complete any training/safety program relating to the operation of the equipment.
- Be able to read, understand and interpret blueprints and job routings.
- Record required information on proper forms relating to machining practices where required.
- Properly operate and interpret various measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, gauges, ect.).
- Correctly monitor and identify when equipment needs to be sent out for calibration.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Perform inspections using Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions.
- Work with the department supervisor and maintenance to make sure machines are running smoothly.
- Performs housekeeping and other related duties.
