About The Position

S.A. Morman & Co. is seeking a skilled technician to install and service low energy automatic door operators in commercial and institutional environments. This role focuses on the installation, adjustment, and troubleshooting of automatic door systems, ensuring they operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with ADA and ANSI standards. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and takes pride in delivering clean, professional installations.

Requirements

  • Committed to meeting customer expectations through timely service, professional conduct, and exceptional product delivery.
  • 2+ years of experience in door hardware, automatic operators, low-voltage installation, or related field
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with doors, frames, and hardware
  • Basic understanding of low-voltage wiring and electrical connection.
  • Ability to read and interpret installation instructions and job drawings
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and ladders/lifts
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low energy operators such as Norton Door Controls and Hager
  • Familiarity with ADA compliance and ANSI A156.19 standards
  • Experience installing wireless activation devices
  • AAADM certification (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Install and service low energy automatic door operators (pull-side and push-side applications)
  • Mount operators, arms, and related hardware to doors and frames
  • Install and configure activation devices, including push plates and wave-to-open sensors
  • Run and terminate low-voltage wiring for activation and safety devices
  • Run and terminate low-voltage wiring for access control integrations
  • Coordinate and connect to available 120VAC power at operator locations
  • Adjust and program operators (opening speed, closing force, hold-open time, etc.)
  • Ensure installations meet ADA and ANSI A156.19 requirements
  • Perform system testing to confirm safe and proper operation
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing operator systems in the field
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
  • Complete accurate and timely service documentation, including work performed, warranty claims, invoicing details, and all required project records.
  • Maintain clear communication with internal teams regarding job status, progress, and any issues requiring attention to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • This position focuses on the installation and service of low-energy automatic door operators, with additional support provided for access control systems and other project-related work as required.
