Automatic Commercial Door Service Technician
About The Position
This role involves independently installing, servicing, and repairing commercial overhead doors, dock equipment, gates, industrial doors, and automatic doors. The technician will be involved in the expansion of the company's product line to include commercial overhead doors and dock equipment. Responsibilities include responding to dispatch assignments, maintaining a service truck, and representing the company professionally. The job offers daily challenges in problem-solving, hands-on work, and building customer relationships through exceptional service and clear communication.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience working with commercial doors
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot door systems and related hardware
- Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Nice To Haves
- Overhead door installation and/or service experience strongly preferred
- Experience with dock levelers, dock restraints, or loading dock equipment
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred)
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings
Responsibilities
- Install and repair a wide range of commercial doors, overhead doors, dock levelers, dock restraints, and related hardware, working independently or with a small team.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute installation and repair tasks.
- Perform welding and basic fabrication work on door frames and metal components as needed.
- Identify and communicate opportunities to provide customers with additional products and services.
- Maintain detailed, accurate job-related paperwork and submit in a timely manner.
- Operate in a safety-conscious manner at all times, including when working at heights or with heavy equipment.
