Our Opportunity: Chewy is seeking an Automated Maintenance Technician III to join the pack at the Houston, TX Fulfillment Center! In this role, you'll have the chance to demonstrate your skills to support the dynamic operations of our fast-paced fulfillment center. This position involves handling a broad range of responsibilities, including facilities maintenance, equipment upkeep, and utilities management, to ensure detailed operations.

Requirements

  • PC proficiency and ability to use handheld devices
  • Familiar with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring
  • Work order management
  • Preventive/predictive maintenance procedures
  • Basic blueprint and schematic reading, metal fabrication and welding, understanding of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs
  • Ability to resolve basic Input/Output functions
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • College degree or experience from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field, or 3-5 years hands on previous experience in related field.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair both electrical and mechanical components of equipment, including conveyor systems, sortation systems, carton erectors, print-and-apply systems, compactors/balers, motors, and more.
  • Adjust scanners, cameras, scales, and printer applicators (PANDA)
  • Reset, repair, or replace adjustable components (belts, chains, cables) and wearing components (guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys)
  • Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment
  • Use appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to basic electronics and Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) systems.
  • Use handheld devices or desktop PC to build and close Work Orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used)
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards
