About The Position

Ultra-met is seeking an Automated Grinder Technician with experience operating automated grinding machines such as Koyo, Sthali, Blanchard, or Agathon. This role involves setting up and operating grinding, honing, and lapping equipment to meet production and quality standards. The technician will be responsible for grinding, honing, or lapping blank carbide parts into finished Carbide inserts, adhering to close tolerances and quality standards while ensuring on-time deliveries. Additionally, the role includes training and developing other department employees, proactively identifying quality and procedural issues, and implementing solutions. The technician will also be responsible for reading shop orders and blueprints, gathering necessary tooling, completing assigned jobs to exact specifications, operating equipment safely, maintaining equipment, and using measuring devices to ensure parts meet specifications.

Requirements

  • Experience operating an automated grinding machine (Koyo, Sthali, Blanchard, or Agathon)
  • Ability to set up and operate grinding, honing, and lapping equipment
  • Ability to grind, hone, or lap blank carbide parts into finished Carbide inserts
  • Ability to work with close tolerances to achieve quality standards
  • Ability to maintain on-time deliveries
  • Ability to read and review shop orders and blueprints
  • Ability to gather proper tooling and relevant information for each job
  • Ability to complete assigned jobs and produce quality parts according to exact specifications
  • Ability to operate all department equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to maintain all department equipment in a clean and reliable condition
  • Proficiency in using measuring devices such as micrometers, microscopes, and optical comparators

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate grinding, honing, and lapping equipment to meet production and quality standards.
  • Grind, hone, or lap blank carbide parts into finished Carbide inserts, using close tolerances to achieve quality standards while maintaining on-time deliveries.
  • Train and develop other department employees to reach advanced performance levels while being more productive and quality driven.
  • Be proactive and directly assist management in identifying quality and procedural issues.
  • Institute permanent changes in training & operating procedures to resolve these issues and yield consistent results in quality and performance.
  • Read and review shop orders and blueprints to determine job specifications and quality requirements.
  • Gather proper tooling and relevant information for each job.
  • Complete assigned jobs and produce quality parts.
  • Ensure that parts are made according to exact specifications.
  • Operate all department equipment in a safe manner.
  • Maintain all department equipment in a clean and reliable condition.
  • Use measuring devices such as micrometers, microscopes, and optical comparators to ensure that parts meet specifications.
