About The Position

The autoclave technician is responsible for the operation of the autoclaves and curing ovens to cure composite parts. The autoclave technician is also responsible for de-molding the parts after the cure using pneumatic tools and small hand tools. Required to work weekly rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Strong knowledge of composite lay-up autoclave and ovens.
  • Understanding of various production steps and processes.
  • Ability to maintain operating equipment – ie: Thermocouples, tooling, hand tools.
  • Clean, prepare, assemble, and store molds properly.
  • Loading the autoclave using pump carts, lifting layup molds onto stands/carts.
  • Demolding parts – use of hammers, wedges, compressed air.
  • Disassembly/Assembly of layup molds in order to demold parts and clean tooling.
  • Maintenance of all vacuum hoses – changing hose fittings and seals.
  • Maintenance of vacuum valves – changing fittings.
  • Use of overhead crane to sling/lift tools onto tooling mezzanine.
  • Communicate with the supervisor to ensure priorities, issues are identified.
  • Troubleshoot issues with cures to determine solutions.
  • Achieves team production goals by working to meet all operational and quality standards to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Prepares, sets up, loads programs, operates equipment, monitors data, and ends operation cycles using various curing vessels.
  • Operates pallet jacks, to safely load and unload layup tools for the cure operation.
  • Ensures manufacturing traceability by verifying all paperwork is accurate for the operation being performed.
  • Performs vacuum integrity checks using manual/on-line computer system.
  • Prepares data reports for review by the Quality Assurance team.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of issues and escalates when required.
  • Monitor the condition of moulds daily & become familiar with when moulds will require repair.
  • Foster Health & Safety in the workplace through his / her own actions - leading as an example.
  • Responsible for the health, safety and working environment of all employees.
  • Identification and remediation of safety hazards or unsafe practices.
  • Uphold all Health and Safety policies and procedures and foster a healthy & safe mind set within the workplace.
  • In safety matters, ensure that AHCA is above reproach.
  • Troubleshooting and recommendations for process/tooling/ergonomic/safety improvements.
  • Foster health and safety in the workplace and knowledge of health and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate standard work practices to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ensure work areas and equipment kept clean and neat – 5S and FOD free.
  • Assist with work station set up.
