About The Position

Zurich Canada is seeking an Auto Pricing Actuary - Commercial Lines to support the pricing process for the Commercial Lines Auto business. This role will provide analytical support and insights to the Auto Pricing team and business partners. Responsibilities include contributing to rate changes, filing, and communications, as well as enhancing pricing sophistication and risk segmentation by implementing changes in the rating platform and performing required validation. This is a new vacancy offering an opportunity to build knowledge and experience in a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree OR Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5–7 years of experience in the Actuarial area, preferably in Personal Lines pricing
  • Progress toward actuarial designation (ACAS or equivalent international certification)
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English is required to facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders outside Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Support the pricing of new business and renewal portfolios and the development of effective premium and rating structures for Commercial Auto.
  • Contribute to pricing governance activities, including internal reviews, documentation, and interactions with internal partners, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of pricing models, algorithms, tools, and reporting capabilities.
  • Develop a solid understanding of factors impacting loss costs, expenses, and premiums, and contribute to initiatives that continuously improve pricing sophistication and segmentation.
  • Assist in monitoring portfolio performance, profitability, and key pricing metrics for new and renewal business.
  • Prepare and perform actuarial analyses, including trend analyses, indications, rate impact analyses, and other pricing-related studies, with appropriate review.
  • Support Market Facing and Technical Underwriters by providing pricing analyses and recommendations.
  • Assist in the testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of pricing algorithms and rating tools in production environments.
  • Remain informed of regulatory, market, and portfolio developments and incorporate learnings into pricing analyses.
  • Operate within Zurich underwriting guidelines, pricing governance frameworks, and internal procedures.
