Auto Messenger II positions operate specialized software to track deliveries; pick up, sort, and deliver United States mail and interdepartmental communication; keep record of special delivery, registered, and certified mail; drive auto or light trucks in performing routine messenger service among City departments and outlying locations and agencies; perform clerical functions such as entering, modifying, updating, and querying information; and perform other duties as assigned. Employees in this classification may be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions and to spend long periods driving, walking, and standing. They may also be required to lift, carry, and/or pull items weighing up to 70 lbs. Additionally, Auto Messenger II employees may be required to work rotating shifts for which they may receive an additional 5% in pay.
