About The Position

Superior Auto Inc., a privately-held automotive retailer with 71 locations founded in 1975, is seeking an experienced Auto Mechanic. This role is vital in ensuring customers receive safe and high-quality pre-owned vehicles by conducting thorough inspections and performing necessary repairs. The ideal candidate is experienced and skilled in mechanical functions, adept at vehicle inspections, and possesses a positive and driven attitude.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of mechanical hands-on experience or ASE Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• A valid state driver’s license, with limited moving violations within the last 3 years.
• Proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow and complete checklists to ensure a thorough examination of all parts and systems for all vehicles, documenting safety issues and necessary repair items.
• Review the checklist after the vehicle is checked in to evaluate for cost-effective and necessary repairs.
• Identify mechanical and electrical problems with both manual and computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Evaluate safety and appearance, and perform general maintenance as required.
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs such as spark plug, worn parts, wheel bearings, brake pads, fuel systems, and sensors, thoroughly and accurately, including changing motor oil, rotating tires, and checking fluid levels.
• Conduct test drives before and after repairs to ensure successful resolution of issues.
• Collaborate with the Buyer to identify vehicles requiring external repairs and manage the delivery and pickup process with outside repair shops.
• Maintain accurate records of all repairs, invoices, and inspection reports on a daily basis.
• Manage the inventory of shop supplies to ensure availability for repairs.
• Assist the Accounting department with periodic inventory audits.
• Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers and vendors throughout the inspection and repair process.
