About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Automotive Technician to maintain and service a collection of vintage European automobiles (1950s–1970s), along with some classic American vehicles. This is a private, part-time position, ideal for a semi-retired mechanic, independent specialist, or someone looking to supplement other work, offering flexible scheduling around a private schedule.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as an automotive technician.
  • Proven experience working with foreign and European vehicles.
  • ASE Certification required (Master Technician preferred).
  • OEM or manufacturer-specific training (BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Prior experience in a fleet or multi-vehicle maintenance environment preferred.
  • Background in a dealership or high-end independent repair shop preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload efficiently, and maintain accurate service records.
  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • High standards of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Proven hands-on experience with 1950s–70s European automobiles (marque experience such as Porsche, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, or similar a strong plus)
  • Comfort also working on classic American vehicles
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and trustworthy
  • Flexible availability, roughly 20 hours/week

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and scheduled services across the fleet.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
  • Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and identify preventative maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate service records and maintenance schedules.
  • Manage parts sourcing, ordering, and inventory.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet safety, emissions, and performance standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Communicate clearly regarding vehicle condition, repair recommendations, and timelines.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors or specialty shops as needed.
