About The Position

The Automotive Technician I is a mid-level technician responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance and repair services for fleet vehicles. This role emphasizes exceptional customer satisfaction while ensuring cost-effective service delivery. The technician may work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record
  • Minimum of 3 years of vehicle service and repair experience
  • Ability to operate both standard and automatic transmission vehicles
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds (tools and equipment)
  • Must clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. However, we are a drug-free workplace, so the possession, use or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.
  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain a minimum of four (4) ASE certifications within 18 months of employment
  • Ongoing commitment to training and development to maintain ASE certifications and stay current with evolving automotive technologies

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance services, including: Oil changes, Oil, fuel, and transmission filter replacements, Transmission flushes, Inspections for mechanical deficiencies
  • Execute light repairs as required based on inspection findings
  • Perform repairs and maintenance based on certification level, including: OBD II systems, Brake systems, Tire services, Tune-ups, Suspension components, Aerial lift systems, Electrical systems, State safety inspections, Interior and exterior components, Engine and drivetrain components
  • Maintain and repair equipment such as: Cable trailers, Laptop docking stations
  • Assist with more complex repairs and advanced diagnostics as needed
  • Perform moderate fabrication tasks, including: Equipment design, Welding and custom modifications
  • Troubleshoot and repair specialized fleet systems, including: Hydraulic systems, Generators, Electrical systems, Hybrid vehicle systems, Onboard computer systems
  • Ensure operational readiness and availability of specialized fleet vehicles
