About The Position

This position is for an experienced Auto Glass Technician. The company is an auto glass company focused on vehicle glass repair, replacement, and recalibration, investing in advanced technology, career growth, and technician development. The role involves providing all vehicle glass repair and replacement services at a Safelite Shop or Mobile Glass Shop, focusing on safety, quality, and exceptional customer service. The position may be filled at the Technician, Senior Technician, or Master Technician level based on experience, qualifications, technical capabilities, and certifications. Senior and Master Technician positions may include coaching, mentoring, and technical leadership responsibilities.

Requirements

High School Diploma GED/Equivalent Preferred
Valid state-issued driver’s license
Proven experience as an Auto Glass Technician (2+ years preferred)
Technician: Typically 1+ years of vehicle glass installation, repair, replacement, recalibration, or closely related automotive service experience.
Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, bend and twist body
Ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
Ability to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with all federal, state and local laws and agreement to be monitored via in-cab vehicle safety camera / video surveillance technology
Maintains professionalism and passion for providing outstanding customer service and exceeding customer expectations
Ability to safely work outside (in a wide variety of weather conditions and extreme temperatures) for extended periods
Ability to work with chemicals (including but not limited to flammable chemicals), as applicable per the “Safelite Way of Fitting”
Ability to work scheduled days, with flexibility on start and end times to accommodate customer’s needs
Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools to complete recalibrations and trouble-shoot issues
Problem-solving and ability to trouble-shoot issues, independently and collaboratively
Ability to read, write and interpret the English language and technical directions
Ability to communicate orally (via phone) and written (via computer or other electronic means)
Ability to maintain a professional appearance, adhering to Company uniform and PPE policies
Willingness and ability to maintain stable performance under professional or personal pressure and/or opposition (e.g., time pressure and productivity measures)

Nice To Haves

Senior Technician: Typically 3+ years of vehicle glass experience with demonstrated technical proficiency, quality performance, and independent operation.
Master Technician: Typically 5+ years of vehicle glass experience with advanced technical expertise and demonstrated mentoring, coaching, or training capability.
Passion for craftsmanship and quality work
Interest in emerging vehicle technology and ADAS systems
Desire to continue growing within the trade
Interest in mentoring others (Senior and Master levels)

Responsibilities

Provide all vehicle glass repair and replacement services at a Safelite Shop or Mobile Glass Shop in the most efficient manner, focusing on safety, quality and exceptional customer service.
Clean customer vehicles after every job.
Recalibrating automotive safety systems, including trouble-shooting and completing diagnostic testing.
Proficiently operate Safelite’s tools and technologies, including: True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals (as required bv the “Safelite Way of Fitting”, work order and customer administration systems, and Safelite's handheld Mobile Resource Management (MRM) technology.
Safely operate company and customer vehicles throughout the workday.
Communicate with all scheduled customers in-person, via text, and on the phone; present, promote and sell Safelite promotional items and services to customers.
Senior and Master Technician levels will serve as a technical resource, support technician development, share best practices, and assist with coaching and mentoring activities.
