About The Position

This dual-role position combines hands-on metal fabrication with technical drafting. You will interpret engineering plans, turn them into precise AutoCAD shop drawings.

Requirements

• 2 to 5+ years of combined experience in structural steel fabrication and CAD drafting.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D).
• Deep understanding of steel properties, welding symbols, cutting tolerances, and shop math.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Tekla Structures or SolidWorks is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate 2D and 3D fabrication drawings, assembly views, and parts lists using AutoCAD.
• Read and interpret structural engineering plans, architectural drawings, and welding symbols.
• Measure, cut, saw, shear, and shape raw steel components (beams, plates, tubes).
• Join and assemble metal parts using MIG, TIG, or stick welding according to exact project dimensions.
• Inspect finished pieces, verify dimensions against drawings, and ensure compliance with industry standards like AISC or AWS.
• Work alongside project managers, engineers, and shop teams to troubleshoot design conflicts before and during production.
