Auto Body Technician
About The Position
Crash Champions is hiring an Auto Body Technician to perform collision repairs. The technician examines damaged vehicles and plans repair work efficiently, communicates repair status, and completes quality repairs while keeping repairs on schedule. The role includes deciding whether to repair or replace components with consideration for safety, cost, and cycle time; removing vehicle components to access damaged areas; and performing surface repair using power and hand tools. The technician may direct an apprentice when needed and participates in required safety meetings. This position is paid using a commission/flag-rate structure. Flag pay is guaranteed to meet local minimum-wage requirements for all hours worked each week. The posted compensation range represents average flag pay for a typical full-time employee in the position. The company states that actual offers depend on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, and qualifications.
Requirements
- Ability to use a frame machine.
- Knowledge of vehicle repair processes by manufacturer.
- I-CAR welding certification.
- Skill in analyzing and interpreting measuring data.
- Ability to supervise repair personnel.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background check.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in body repair is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Examine damaged vehicles and efficiently plan the repair process.
- Work and communicate with others regarding vehicle repair status.
- Perform quality repairs while keeping on-time status in mind.
- Decide whether to repair or replace components, considering safety, cost, and cycle time.
- Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment, and trim to gain access to the vehicle and fenders.
- Participate in all required safety meetings.
- File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
- Direct an apprentice’s work when needed, including addressing unusual problems or questions and explaining procedures to the assistant.
