About The Position

Crash Champions is hiring an Auto Body Technician to perform collision repairs at one of its repair locations. The position involves examining damaged vehicles, planning and performing repairs, communicating repair status, and making repair-versus-replacement decisions with safety, cost, and cycle time in mind. The technician may direct an apprentice when needed. This position is paid on a commission/flag-rate structure. Flag pay is guaranteed to meet local minimum wage requirements for all hours worked each week. The posted compensation range represents the average flag pay range for a typical full-time employee in this position. The actual offer depends on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, and qualifications.

Requirements

Ability to use a frame machine.
Knowledge of vehicle repair processes by manufacturer.
I-CAR welding certification.
Skill in analyzing and interpreting measuring data.
Ability to supervise repair personnel.
Must pass a thorough background check.

Nice To Haves

Certification in body repair is preferred.

Responsibilities

Examine damaged vehicles and efficiently plan the repair process.
Work and communicate with others regarding vehicle repair status.
Perform quality repairs while keeping on-time status in mind.
Decide whether to repair or replace parts, considering safety, cost, and cycle time.
Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment, and trim to access vehicle areas and fenders.
Participate in required safety meetings.
File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
Direct an apprentice’s work when needed, including addressing unusual problems or questions and explaining procedures.
