About The Position

Metrolinx is seeking an Auto Body and Collision Damage Repairer for its Bus Fleet Maintenance Office. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and inspecting buses for bodywork and associated components. The responsibilities include repairing damaged exterior and interior panels, glass, structural components, and furnishings. The job also entails fabricating, shaping, and attaching components, as well as preparing and painting repair areas and replacement panels. Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • Valid 310B Certification of Qualification with Red Seal endorsement as an Auto Body and Collision Damage Repairer
  • Knowledge of heavy truck or bus maintenance and repair methods
  • Ability to read and understand OEM specifications
  • Ability to obtain Forklift certificate
  • Successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence and meet the corporate standard for a good driving record
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Class “C” driver’s licence and “Z” endorsement
  • Ability to obtain job related certifications as required

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair and inspect buses pertaining to bodywork and associated components.
  • Carry out the diagnosis and repair of damaged bus exterior and interior panels, glass, structural components, and furnishings/upholstery.
  • Implement replacements, adjustments, or repairs to defective parts and components.
  • Fabricate, shape, and attach structural and body components and construct special components as required.
  • Prepare and paint repair areas and replacement panels.
  • Inspect buses to determine extent of damage or defects and repair requirements.
  • Perform the removal, installation and/or repairing of defective mechanical, pneumatic, electrical or hydraulic components, including accessibility equipment.
  • Perform weld repairs using various welding processes such as oxy-acetylene, MIG welding, plastic, vinyl flooring, etc.
  • Perform yard and road tests to ensure repairs meet Metrolinx and MTO standards.
  • Attend on-the-road service calls when required.
  • Assign tasks and provide on-the-job training to SP1s, Apprentices and other Autobody and Collision Damage Repairers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within classification and lower.
