About The Position

United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC), a family-owned and established organization founded in 1989, is seeking an Appraiser to join their team. UAIC is one of the largest privately held property and casualty insurance companies in the United States, known for its commitment to quality service, disciplined underwriting, and strategic claims handling. The company invests heavily in personnel and technology to ensure maximum efficiency and specialized operations. This position is offered in a remote work arrangement, allowing the ideal candidate to work from their preferred location within South Florida. The Appraiser will assess damages to property, primarily auto, ensuring fair, accurate, and timely claim settlements. A strong understanding of Florida-specific regulations and repair practices in the P&C space is ideal.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in property or auto damage appraisal, preferably in a P&C insurance setting
  • Florida All-Lines Adjuster License (or ability to obtain within 60 days) preferred
  • Proficient with estimating software such as CCC One, Audatex, Xactimate, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of Florida insurance and repair laws
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within assigned territory
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of cases with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and appraise damaged property (auto or home), either in-person or virtually, depending on assignment
  • Prepare detailed, itemized repair estimates using industry-standard software (e.g., CCC One, Xactimate, Mitchell)
  • Determine repair versus total loss thresholds and recommend next steps
  • Review photos, videos, and documentation submitted by claimants, repair shops, or adjusters
  • Collaborate with adjusters, repair facilities, and policyholders to verify losses and resolve disputes
  • Ensure compliance with all state regulations, company guidelines, and ethical standards
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for claims handling
  • Stay up to date on Florida repair laws, materials pricing, and appraisal practices
